The Nikon Z50II has electronic VR in video, but I found I get these weird wobbly corners on moving or panning shots. Nothing to do with the lens though, it’s an issue with the body of the camera. I get it on my Nikon Z7 as well. For NIkon crop sensor cameras I’d stick with a tripod, monopod or gimbal for video. Especially when using lenses without VR 🙏📸
Hi Adrian, a great video, buddy! Absolutely mind-blowing that low-budget lenses like that are even coming with AF meanwhile. You also gave some great tips and I like all your sample shots 😉 Thank you for the video and nice greetings, Christian
I currently own the Z50 with both kit lenses. I did wanted a faster prime lens, so I purchased the Viltrox 23 mm 1.4 lens, great for still's, but troublesome for video as you know. It be nice if Viltrox, included in their lenses, I surely would have paid more. I agree with others comments, that Nikon missed the boat by not adding IBIS in the Z50II. The gimbal is a good idea, but for travel ing is not so convenient. Thanks for sharing thoughts.
Those are some great tips, Adrian. I am liking that Z50ii, however this is about the Viltrox… I notice right away that the lens body looks identical to the 20mm and 40mm f2.5s that Viltrox sells for full frame. I have those two lenses and I really like them especially for light weight travel. The 35mm F1.7 is a great deal even for full frame such as your Z7 as the Z7 will automatically crop the image giving you essentially the same 20 MP file and it has IBIS built in. Again, enjoy your content. Adrian, thank you!
@@adrianalfordphotography My friend, let’s hope that the remainder of the year is quiet and tranquil. So, I am starting to get used to the new schedule for releasing videos lately. Is this the new norm? I am good either way as long as you keep them coming.
@ normally it’s every Saturday, but due to the release of new lenses for reviews and the release of the Z50II I’ve been packing them in 😂 I’m a bit exhausted actually, time to have a rest over Christmas 🙏
is the hood mount junk on this one too? i just got the 27mm pro and its my favorite lens, but i think the only way the hood is going to stay on is if it gets glued in place.
I had issues with my Viltrox 24 f1.8 on my Z50ii when it came out (camera going into stand-by power mode would change the AF setting) which was solved with a firmware update. Others reported similar issues with other Viltrox lenses. Does this lens have similar issues or is it working well with your Z50ii in this regard? By the way, I love your RUclips video reviews. Thanks!
Thanks for watching. I can honestly say I have never had any issues with third party lenses on my Z cameras (both Z7 and Z50II) and that's not just the Viltrox brand either. I had only one slight issue once when a company sent me a lens to review, but it wasn't the best fit for a Z mount, very hard to get on. So I had to send back.
@@adrianalfordphotography Thanks for the rapid response to my question, Adrian. I was actually very impressed with Viltrox's rapid release of a firmware fix for the bug related to some of their lenses on the Z50ii. It was less than a week after the initial reports of the problem. I love my Viltrox 24 f1.8 FF lens on both my Z5 and Z50ii and have just ordered a 56 f1.7 to be a portrait lens in my z50ii bag. Quality lenses at a good price and good support, too!
In my opinion Nikon dropped the ball with the Z50II by not adding IBIS, As a Z30 user for my carry around street camera I do miss it. Great tips, thank you.

Thanks so much Christian. Really appreciate you watching. Have a great week ahead buddy, cheers
Looks like another quality lens from Viltrox. Great tips on the filters, awesome way to save some money.
@@slimbirdy thanks for watching - yeah for a fast aperture lens at F1.7 it’s definitely great value for money 💴 🙏
Great Job, Adrian!
Cheers mate, thanks for watching 🙏
Thanks, Adrian. After watching your videos, I ordered the Z50ii. I will also buy this lens in the future.
Thanks for watching. Let me know what you think of it when you get it.
Cool review man. I didn't realise the Z50II came with a pop up flash? Learn something new every time I watch you r channel.
Cheers, thank you for watching 🙏

Great!

Thanks for this review. Do you need an adapter for using with the Nikon Z50ii?
Thanks for watching. You don't need an adaptor. The Viltrox 35mm F1.7 comes in Nikon Z mount, Sony E mount and Fuji X mount 🙏

I love those Viltrox Pro lenses, especially the 75mm F1.2. I had no issues with the lens hood on this 35mm lens.

Thanks for watching. You are right, the lack of in-body image stabilisation is a real shame.
